California Privacy Notice (CCPA)

Introduction and Scope

Financegridlab provides this notice to California residents under the California Consumer Privacy Act / California Privacy Rights Act ("CCPA/CPRA"). It describes how we collect, use, and disclose personal information about California consumers and what rights you have with respect to that information. This notice supplements — and should be read together with — our general Privacy Policy.

Categories of Personal Information Collected

The categories of personal information that Financegridlab has collected from California consumers during the past twelve months are: (a) identifiers such as IP addresses and email addresses; (b) personal-records information you submit voluntarily (name and message text in our forms); (c) commercial information (newsletter subscription history); (d) internet or other network activity information (browsing on our site, referring URL); (e) geolocation data of coarse precision; and (f) inferences drawn from the foregoing for the purpose of audience analytics. We do not knowingly collect biometric information, sensory data, professional or employment information, or education information.

Sources of Personal Information

We obtain the personal information described above directly from you (when you fill in a form or interact with the site), automatically from your device (when your browser requests pages and sends standard HTTP headers), and from a limited set of service providers that operate Financegridlab on our behalf (such as our hosting provider, edge security provider, and email-delivery vendor). We do not buy personal information from data brokers.

Business and Commercial Purposes

The personal information described in this notice is used by Financegridlab to operate, secure, and improve the service; to provide the editorial newsletter to subscribers; to answer messages submitted via our forms; to detect and prevent abuse; to produce aggregate audience reports; and to satisfy our legal obligations. We do not use personal information for any purpose materially different from those for which it was originally collected without notifying you.

Disclosure to Service Providers and Third Parties

We disclose personal information to service providers under written contract for the business purposes outlined above. These currently include: our cloud hosting provider; our content-delivery network and edge security provider; our email-delivery vendor (for newsletter distribution); our web-analytics provider; and our advertising network (where ads are displayed). Each service provider is contractually prohibited from retaining, using, or disclosing the personal information for any purpose other than the specific services it provides to us.

Sale and Sharing of Personal Information

In compliance with the CCPA, Financegridlab confirms that it has not sold or shared the personal information of California consumers (including consumers known to be under 16 years of age) in the past 12 months and does not intend to do so. "Sale" and "sharing" are interpreted as defined by the CCPA; sharing data with operational service providers under contract does not constitute a sale or sharing in that sense.

Sensitive Personal Information

Under the CCPA, certain categories of personal information are designated as "sensitive" — including precise geolocation, government IDs, financial account numbers, racial or ethnic origin, religious beliefs, and similar attributes. Financegridlab does not knowingly collect or process such categories for inferring characteristics about California consumers. Any voluntary submission of sensitive information through our forms is used solely for the workflow you initiated.

Your California Privacy Rights

Under the CCPA, California consumers have the following rights: (1) the right to know what personal information we have collected about you, including the categories of information, the sources, the purposes, and the categories of third parties to which we disclose it; (2) the right to access the specific pieces of personal information we hold; (3) the right to correct inaccurate personal information; (4) the right to request deletion of personal information; (5) the right to opt out of any sale or sharing of personal information (we do not sell or share, but the right exists); (6) the right to limit the use of sensitive personal information; and (7) the right to non-discrimination for exercising any of these rights.

How to Exercise Your Rights

To exercise any of the rights described above, please submit a request through the Contact form linked in the site footer, or by email to the contact address listed on our Contact page. We will need to verify your identity to a degree of certainty proportional to the request — for newsletter records, confirming the email subscribed is usually sufficient; for broader access or deletion requests we may ask for additional information. We will respond within 45 days, or notify you if more time is needed (up to a further 45 days).

California consumers may use an authorized agent to exercise their CCPA rights. To process a request submitted by an agent, Financegridlab requires the agent to provide signed written permission from the consumer or a power of attorney, plus reasonable verification of the consumer's identity. We may also contact the consumer to confirm that they have indeed authorized the agent to make the request.

Consumers Under 16 Years of Age

Financegridlab does not sell or share personal information about consumers under the age of 16 and does not have actual knowledge of collecting personal information of children under 13. If we ever decided to sell or share personal information about consumers between the ages of 13 and 16, we would do so only with the affirmative authorization of the consumer (opt-in) as required by the CCPA. Parents and guardians may submit deletion requests on behalf of their children via the Contact form.

Right to Non-Discrimination

We are committed to the CCPA's anti-retaliation principle: Financegridlab will treat California consumers equally regardless of whether they exercise their CCPA rights. There is no premium or paid tier where rights-exercising consumers receive a lesser experience — the editorial content is the same for everyone. We do not offer financial incentives in exchange for collecting personal information.

Retention of Personal Information

Personal information collected from California consumers is kept by Financegridlab only for the period necessary for the purposes described in this notice plus any legally mandated retention period. Concretely: newsletter email addresses are retained for the life of the subscription; contact-form submissions are retained up to 24 months; server logs are kept up to 90 days; non-identifying aggregate analytics may be retained indefinitely.

Changes to This Notice and How to Reach Us

We may update this California Privacy Notice from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or in applicable law. The current version is always the one published on this page, with the "Last updated" date indicating when it became effective.
